Department of Nursing

Admission Requirement

BSc Nursing (regular)- 4 years

 (A) Applicants with SSSCE certificates must have total aggregate of twenty-four
(24) or better in six(6) subjects, comprising: A – D in THREE CORE SUBJECTS- i.e. English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science and AT LEAST Credit in  (3) Elective subjects in any of the following:

  • Elective Mathematics      II. Biology       III. Physics     IV. Chemistry      

 (B)   Applicants with WASSCE Results must obtain a minimum of six (6) Credit Passes (i.e. A1 –C6) in three (3) Core Subjects I.e. English, Mathematics and Integrated Science.and in (3) Elective subjects in any of the following:

  • Elective Mathematics      II. Biology       III. Physics     IV. Chemistry

BSc Nursing (Access route)

Available on weekends only

Entry requirements

Qualified nurse assistant(clinical)

In addition to the above, applicants would have to successfully complete an Access course.

Participants will be placed at level 200 to begin a three-year BSc Nursing programme.

BSc Nursing Top-Up

Available on weekends only

Entry requirements

  1. Qualified nurses with diploma from recognized institutions will be admitted to level 300 of the programme. (NB. No Entrance Examination)

Registered General Nursing(RGN) Diploma

Entry requirements

  1. Applicants with SSSCE certificates must have a total aggregate of twenty-four (24) or better in six (6) subjects, comprising: A – D in all THREE CORE SUBJECTS- i.e. English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science and AT LEAST Credit in (3) Elective subjects in any of the following options (See Table Below):
  1. Applicants with WASSCE Certificates must obtain a minimum of six (6) Credit Passes (i.e. A1 –C6) in three (3) Core subjects and three (3) Elective subjects (See Table Below) with a total aggregate of Thirty-Six (36) or better.

REGISTERED NURSE ASSISTANT(Clinical)- 2 years

Entry requirements

  1. Applicants with SSSCE certificates must have a total aggregate of Thirty (30) or better in three (3) Core subjects, comprising: A – E in all THREE CORE SUBJECTS- i.e. English, Mathematics and Integrated Science and (A-E) in any three (3) elective subjects.
  1. Applicants with WASSCE certificates must have an aggregate score of Forty-Eight (48) or better comprising (A1-E8)in three (3) Core subjectsEnglish, Mathematics and Integrated Science and (A1-E8) in any three elective subjects.

 

DEPARTMENT OF MEDICAL SCIENCE

BSc Physician Assistantship

Duration: Four (4) years

ADMISSION REQUIREMENT
      (A)    Applicants with SSSCE certificate must have aggregate score of twenty-four (24)(A-D) or better in six subjects, comprising: (3 core subjects, i.e. English, Mathematics and Integrated Science and 3 electives in science, i.e.   Elective Mathematics, Biology, Physics and Chemistry
      (B)     Applicants with WASSCE certificate must have aggregate score of Thirty-six (36)(A1-C6) or better in six subjects, comprising: ((3 core subjects, i.e. English, Mathematics and Integrated Science and 3 electives in science, i.e. Elective Mathematics, Biology, Physics and Chemistry)

    (II)   OTHERS
Applicants must be qualified Nurses (SRN/RGN) or holders of Bachelor degree in Human Biology. In addition, candidates must have attained the age of 25 years or above with five (5) credits in five (5) GCE “O” Levels or six passes in SSSCE/ WASSCE subjects including English Language, Mathematics and Science, and must have at least three (3) years working experience in addition to passing an entrance examination and interview. Successful candidates would be admitted into level 200.

Candidates with Diploma certificate in Physician Assistantship from recognized institutions with a minimum GPA of 2.50 and a pass in the licensure examination conducted by the Medical and Dental Council will be admitted to third year (Level 300).

 

 

DEPARTMENT OF ALLIED HEALTH SCIENCE

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

BSc Medical Laboratory Technology

  1. Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE)

Grade D or better in three (3) core subjects i.e. English Language, Core Mathematics, Integrated Science and three (3) elective subjects namely Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Elective Mathematics.

  1. West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE)
    Grade C6 or better in three (3) core subjects i.e. English Language, Core Mathematics, Integrated Science or Social Studies and three (3) elective subjects namely Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Elective Mathematics.

iii. General Certificate of Education (GCE) Advanced Level
Passes in three (3) subjects (at least, one of the passes should be Grade D or better). Also, the applicant must have had credit passes (Grade 6) in five GCE Ordinary Level subjects including English, Mathematics and a Science subject (for non-science students) and an Arts subject for Science students.

  1. Mature Students’ Entry Requirements

Applicants must have:

  1. FIVE (5) credits at the ‘O’ level, including English language and mathematics OR
  1. WASSCE/SSSCEcredit passes in THREE relevant Elective Subjects: Biology, Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics OR
  2. Ministry of Health Certificates in Medical Laboratory Technology or Science

 

Laboratory Technology with elective science background shall be interviewed and successful applicants placed in the FIRST YEAR. However, those without elective science background will go through Access Course that encompasses the Six (6) major areas in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English, Mathematics and Integrated Science
In addition to the above requirements, applicants should:

  1. Be at least 25 years at the time of submitting the application and must show proof of age with birth certificate or any legitimate documentary proof of birth date which is at least 5 years old at the time of application.
  2. Provide an introductory letter from employer or show any other proof of employment.

  1. Diploma Certificate Holders: Applicants with Diploma Certificates from a recognised institution will be admitted to level 300 of the programme
  1. HND Certificate Holders: Applicants with HND Certificate will be admitted to level 200 after passing an entrance examination.

 

Medical Laboratory Technology (Certificate)- 2 years

  1. Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE)

Grade E or better in three (3) core subjects (English Language, Mathematics (Core), Integrated Science or Social Studies) and any three (3) elective subjects.

  1. West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE)

Grade E8 or better in three (3) core subjects (English Language, Core Mathematics, Integrated Science and any three (3) elective subjects.

DEPARTMENT OF THEOLOGY AND MISSIONS

Certificate in Ministry

  1. WASSCE/SSSCEHolders must have Pass (E81/D7, or E Respectively) in the following
    Three (3) Core Subjects: English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science
    plus pass (E81D7, or E in Three Elective Subjects with an Aggregate Score of 48 or
    better in the relevant Area of Study.
  2. Mature Students(25 years and above, and can read and write) those who
    do not have the requisite qualifications are also considered after passing a Selection
    interview which would be conducted by the School before the commencement of the
    Academic year.
  3. International Students must satisfy the above requirements of their equivalents, as
    determined by the School and where examinations may be waived, special interviews
    will be conducted before being admitted in the School.

Application forms for admission may be purchased at the GENERAL OFFICE, Narh-Bita College Main Campus (near Narh-Bita Hospital, Tema) or Adom Campus at Community five (5) opposite St. Paul’s Methodist Church, for a non-refundable fee of GH¢100.00.
Alternatively, application forms can be downloaded here from the college’s website, and pay a processing fee on submission. Completed application forms with certified copies of relevant supporting documents should be sent to The Registrar.
